One fine day during flu season Waldo got the sniffles. Since he didn’t want to spread it around to the rest of the crowd he chose to stay home and rest. This gave him plenty of time to think. Why is it that every year, “during a specific period of time” the amount of flu virus is more widespread? Wondered Waldo.
Of course he did not have an explanation for it and decided to look it up online. He then got lost in the fantastic web of information and disinformation found there and decided to let his imagination run wild. After all, Waldo had no idea who to believe and the information on the subject was sketchy at best.
After so many years of fighting the common cold, how was it that man kind had not beaten it yet? The media and other information channels speak of how the virus adapts and mutates over the years but with modern medicine and flu shots shouldn’t it have been eradicated by now?
Waldo asked himself where does the virus live during the other seasons and why doesn’t it just get killed off after the hosts become immune to its effects? How does it rise up again every year like a phoenix? That is when he fell asleep and began to dream up the craziest conspiracy theory yet!
What if the common cold had actually been defeated many years ago but some shady pharmaceutical companies found it convenient to store, re engineer and spread it around every year at a time when most people’s immune systems are weaker due to the colder and harsher climate conditions?
Wouldn’t that make their business model so much more effective allowing them to sell more drugs even during a bad economy? Since Wally has no proof to support or defy such a crazy conspiracy theory he wonders if someone out there may have the answer. Want to help Wally? Email him at marvimation@gmail.com
