Where is Tucker? Florida rescue dog disappears (Photos)

Tucker was rescued from a horrible and abusive situation in Florida. The original rescuer is offering a reward for Tucker’s safe return:

Nina Marrocco saved Tucker from being “ kept tied outside day and night, muddy water and no food in any weather and I was scared to death of my owner.”

Tucker was taken to the rescue group ARK, a foster-based “a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. The organization provides medical and adoption services for injured, abandoned. and surrendered dogs, cats, and exotics. Through presentations and written material ARK educates the public regarding the responsible care and protection of all animals.”

ARK, located in Deland, Florida worked with Marrocco to help shelter Tucker. What happened afterward has resulted in Tucker’s disappearance. Marrocco doesn’t know if Tucker is alive or dead or perhaps even in a worse situation than rescued from in the first place.

Reading Tucker’s story is heartbreaking. “When I'm taken to the big kennel outside I just sit against the screen and wait and wait for someone to love me. I am one of the most loving and gentle dogs you will ever meet. I like some dogs around me and did have a little chi buddy who also was chained. I miss him. I am lonely. I get really excited when someone takes me for a walk. I know to sit and I obey now really well. And I am one of the biggest sweet dogs you will ever meet.”

Little un-financed rescue groups like ARK are solely dependent upon donations and do not have the resources and facilities to underwrite the care of so many dogs and animals with stories like Tucker’s. The sad and frightening element of rescue work in today’s society is falling prey to situations like the one involving Tucker and Marrocco.

Tucker was adopted by ARK to a Deland, Florida woman. She immediately reportedly gave Tucker away. Marrocco has not been able to contact the reported new location or check Tucker’s wellbeing for herself.

Tucker was reported to have last been seen in DeBary, Florida on Medera Road.

American Pit Bull Examiner is asking anyone in the Deland or DeBary, Florida area to keep an eye open for Tucker in hopes that a neighbor or local might have seen him. The city of Deland doesn’t have a proper animal shelter and relies on groups like ARK to help with the city’s stray and relinquished animals.
