It has been two years since Colin Gillis disappeared from Tupper Lake, New York. A pre-med student, Colin was visiting home over spring break, and was excited to see his friends at a party that evening. There is not a clear picture of the party, but for whatever reason, it came to a quick end and the 18-year-old left on foot, with no coat, with temperatures in the teens. He was spotted by a person driving by, who quickly reported him to Tupper Lake Police, but when they went looking for the pedestrian, he was no where to be found.
There is large amounts of speculation as to what could have become of the young man and foul play has not been ruled out. Did he somehow get off the road and become lost in the nearby Adirondack Forest? Was there some kind of altercation with a fellow party goer that led to an unfortunate accident? Was he the victim of a murderer? These questions likely plague the minds of Colin's parents who, like all parents of missing children, will never give up hope of finding their son.
The entire area around where Colin was last seen has been thoroughly searched for several weeks after his disappearance, with only a few traces found to show the young man was ever there. There may actually be some salt behind the theory that there was some kind of incident at the party, though nothing official has been released. For a short time, it was believed that serial killer Israel Keyes may have somehow been involved in Colin's disappearance, but that has been ruled out, as it's proven Keyes was elsewhere in that time frame.
So what has become of Colin? Will he ever be found? If you have any information about the disappearance of Colin Gillis, please contact the Tupper Lake, NY Police Department at (518)359-3776 or your local law enforcement. There is a $25,000 reward for information.
