Where is Chris "Big Black" Boykin today?

October 18, 2010

Best known for his role on MTV’s “Rob and Big,” Christopher “Big Black” Boykin temporarily fell from the limelight after his partnership with professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek ended in 2008. However, Chris is far from being done.

A United States Navy veteran, Boykin worked as an executive protection specialist until he met Dyrdek in 2003. They filmed a short skit for DC Shoes together, in which Boykin played the bodyguard hired by Dyrdek to help him clear skating areas of security guards. They reprised their roles in 2004 for a DC Shoes DVD, and, from 2006 to 2008, they teamed up to bring the world “Rob and Big.”

Since the show’s completion, the fanfare surrounding “Big Black” has faded but not disappeared. He is currently working with his hip-hop group entitled “The Chunky Boys.” Consisting of Big Black, Bam Bam, Zeus, and Steve OG, the group recently released their first album “Overweight Champs.” The group is currently unsigned, and it is unclear whether they intend to tour or not.

Though he has stepped away from the television screen for awhile, Chris Boykin is still keeping his fans entertained through his music, and he will always be Big in everyone’s hearts.
