Where does Hulk Hogan fit in with TNA Impact Wrestling

Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan seems to be out of place with TNA not only behind the scenes but on-air as well. Once the central figure in TNA storylines, Hogan seems to be out of place with the main stars of the TNA despite the company's best efforts to keep him relevant. As for his role behind the scenes, it's unclear what his exact duties are. Not only are outsiders trying to figure out what exactly Hogan does, but the Hulkster himself is unclear. According to a Friday February 3rd report by TheSun.co.uk, Hogan made the following comments about his role within the company:

"I don’t know what I do!.I really don’t know! Everybody always asks me that! They’ve got a bunch of people there. They’ve got Dixie (Carter), of course. They’ve got Vince Russo who is the head writer, they’ve got Bruce Pritchard is the head of creative. Eric Bischoff is the executive producer. I contribute, I’ll throw stuff out there creatively and every once in a while if I need to hit the ring I’ll slide on out there and do whatever, but I don’t really have a job description."

TNA has been heavily criticized by fans and pundits for their continual commitment to Hulk Hogan despite the lack of increase in ratings and PPV buys. Their 1 1/2 years of storylines that revolved around Hogan came to an end last October when the heel Hogan turned face and donned the "red and yellow" once again. However, the face turn did little to get any of the TNA younger stars "over".

TNA's Magnus appears to be in line for a 'push'

Wrestlers like Robert Roode and James Storm benefited more from their tag-team matches and the BFG series than the Immortal vs. Fourtune gimmicks. Kaz and AJ Styles went virtually nowhere with the same storylines. In fact, neither of their stocks rose.

Perhaps the only TNA employees to benefit from the Hogan spotlight were Hogan, Bischoff and Sting. Now, Sting has helped put others over with his crazy "joker" gimmick, GM role, and feuds. Robert Roode has benefitted from this in recent months. However, since January 2010, it seems that only non-TNA originals like Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson experienced any kind of success from their interactions with Immortal and Hulk Hogan.

So, it all comes back to why exactly does TNA keep Hulk Hogan on board if he has no exact role within the company and his on-air presence does very little to help others. It's clear, TNA needs to figure this out sooner rather than later and perhaps focus more on the younger stars within the company. For more on The Sun's report, click here.
