J.D. Hayworth has been a very slick politician as of late, reminding me of another “slick” politician. He is talking a great game however; when it comes down to it, Hayworth has history that shows he is really just another greasy politician looking for a handout and power. Many of his supporters are lauding his current “anti- illegal” stance and yet they are completely bypassing his real history on the matter. They are giving him money and support and the major news agencies are eating up his “good ol’ boy” routine. The facts however, show a completely different Hayworth, they show a person who once elected will fall back into his old ways of ignoring the people who elected him and paying out favors to others.
In the recent days, we have seen several things happen, first we have seen several major news agencies completely ignore another contender in this race, Jim Deakin, and we have seen these same news agencies regurgitating the odorous stench of J.D. Hayworth. However, here is the part that makes me gag, on his election site the following is his “stance,” at least today.
The Issues, J.D. Hayworth - “A national leader in the fight to secure our borders, J.D. Hayworth has actually “written the book” on the subject, “Whatever It Takes”. When John McCain proposed his Amnesty Plan—the Heritage Foundation said it would cost taxpayers $2.6 Trillion—J.D. Hayworth stood up and fought against it. Taking on a U.S. Senator with nearly 30 years of seniority took courage, but J.D. understood that our economy could not survive the long-term effects of the McCain-Kennedy plan, and that encouraging millions of people to break our laws was a recipe for disaster. J.D. has led the fight for real border security, interior enforcement, and requiring that law enforcement enforce our laws and protect our citizens. It is no surprise that he has been endorsed by great leaders like Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and State Senator Russell Pearce.”
Yes, folks he is claiming that all of his radio “whine time” can overturn his actual voting record. For those who care about the truth, here is his voting record on immigration in black and white. As of January 28, 2010 My Numbers USA listed J.D. Hayworth as being a C+ candidate on the issue, based on his original voting record. For instance, he voted YES on the Chrysler-Berman Amendment to H.R. 2202; this amendment would have taken away all the legal immigration reductions from that bill. Prior to the amendment, H.R. 2202 would have reduced legal immigration by an estimated 2,465,497 over a 10-year period. Then there is his vote for the Pombo Amendment to H.R.2202. The Pombo Amendment to H.R.2202 would have created a massive new foreign agriculture worker program that allowed agri-business to import up to 250,000 foreign farm workers each year for a period of service of less than a year. The amendment failed by a vote of 180-242. (No thanks to Hayworth...) Need I continue, I mean as with McCain, Hayworth has a few “wins” on his record but overall he has done more to prove he is simply another politician riding the “popularity” contest for votes?
Don’t get me wrong, my personal stance is that we need to seriously fix the system and put in place a better way of allowing immigration, after all this nation was founded on immigration. However, for someone who is running on the “get all those illegal immigrants” bandwagon he is definitely failing! If this is the reason, you are voting or considering a vote for that “greasy politician” than maybe you should rethink your stance?
Jim Deakin is firm in his stance, try voting for a true grassroots candidate, and stop the big government problem in its tracks. This year “we the people” have a chance to make a real difference. We can show government that WE are still the power and they just work for us. Regardless of whether you agree with a stance, make sure you remember, government must be beholden to us or eventually our votes will mean nothing. Here in Cochise County we are tired of the same old thing, we are tired of the politicians running wild with our tax dollars, here in Cochise County we want someone that will at least stand by his principles and will blow with every changing wind. Of course one could mention that J.D. Hayworth refuses to return calls or emails to anyone who may disagree with him. Sadly, he will not even deign to "show up" to local events. Here is the thing, sure he shows up to large events in Pima County and Maricopa County - but remember much of the states voting population is in the other counties.
It is up to the people, and it is time the people took back the power they still have, vote this August and November, VOTE for real change. Sounds like a typical politician who says one thing and does another.
Well, there you go. Maybe what Sarah Palin meant to say was that John McCain simply has no worthy challenger--though perhaps she overlooked someone.
But you'd think that, with the Internet, politicians would have a lot better chance of raising lots of small contributions at once, so that he could tell the Chamber of Commerce that they can't have him.
Hmm. A politician talking out of both sides of his mouth?

JD Hayworth has a 97% lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union, far in excess of McCain's. I'm not necessarily disputing the particular point made in the article about immigration, because I actually don't remember, but Hayworth is far more conservative than McCain and far more experienced than Deakin.
Go JD. We'll see what happens at the ballot box. I wouldn't bet on McCain or the other guy...
