Where did you go
You and your soul, where did you go
You turned so cold, where did you go
The one we used to know
Where’d you go, where’d you go, go, go
Chorus to Lyrics of “Where Did You Go”
No one can deny the history of the John McCain family (McCain, his father, and his grandfather) for serving their country in the U.S. Navy. Nor can we forget the bravery of McCain for his suffering inhuman torture at the hands of the North Vietnamese during his imprisonment (from 1967 until 1973). And during his service as a Republican congressman and senator from Arizona, most people accepted the fact that he became known as a “maverick”. And nowhere was this more evident than his choice of Governor Sarah Palin
(R-AK) as his running mate in his unsuccessful bid in the 2008 presidential election.
Recently, McCain was being interviewed by Brian Kilmeade on Fox News when the host said Muslims who use the phrase “Allahu Akbar’, translated as “God is Great” or “God is Greater” (than your God), have “radical aspirations and are not moderates”. However, most people in our country jumped out of their seats in anger when McCain responded with these words, "Would you have a problem with an American or Christians saying 'Thank God, thank God? That's what they are saying…I guarantee you they are moderates."
OK, granted it is a common phrase used by Muslims in their prayers. However, Americans have all to often seen news reports of this phrase yelled by Muslim extremists prior to their attack on "non-believers". To most of us, John Sidney McCain III has just forgotten headlines since 9-11, which directly contradict him – and we veterans think that’s a shame.
So “where did you go”, John McCain?
