Paul Lee, president of ABC has been a busy man, making all sorts of announcements about ABC shows this week. He recently revealed a few tidbits about everyone’s favorite dance competition show, “Dancing with the Stars.” On Jan 17, E! Online reported the premiere date for season 18 and dished about the status of Maks as a judge on the show.
“Glee” star Amber Riley took home the season 17 mirror ball trophy after a down-to-the wire dance duel that kept everyone guessing until the bitter end. Producers are on the hunt for competitors for the upcoming season and they are fast running out of time. Season 18 of “Dancing with the Stars” will return to Monday nights on March 17.
Lee said that in spite of some shocking eliminations, the network couldn’t be happier with the new 1-night format for the show. The series’ ratings grew and though they tapered off a bit at the end, overall the season showed increased viewership. Season 18 will stay with the 1-night format.
Fans will remember the night Maks Chmerkovskiy sat in for head judge Len Goodman. Lee said the network was pleased to have him as a judge and they are looking forward to working with him again.
Does this mean we won’t see Maks on the dance floor anymore? Lee said "We're not quite ready to say... We thought Maks did a fabulous job and we're going to continue working with him in the future. Nothing to announce now, but we will keep working with him."
