At any moment when moments in life are not so glorious, people run and hide. They turn their heads away instead of facing the obstacle ahead of them. Perhaps ‘running and hiding’ does not always occur physically but perhaps metaphorically. Once the times get tough, humans have this innate tendency to flee from the scene, in terms of their heart and block their mind from anything negative. By doing this, we are turning our backs on God. Through this, we are furthering our disbelief and showing God we do not trust Him.
How can we call ourselves Christians, and not be able to face the rough moments as well as the good? How much can you say you know God if you hide from any misfortune. Show some humility and modesty. Turn to God when you enter into a dark tunnel with no visible light at the end of it. Ask for God’s guidance as you push through the evils that will surround you. Look for God when the devil shuts your eyes and ears from seeing or hearing the truth.
There are numerous clichés that surround this phenomenon. For instance, there is always “the calm before the storm”, or “when it rains, it pours”, or many others that pertain to darkness taking over. It is typically when life seems very obscure and horrid when people turn away from God. In fact, this is the time we need Him the most.
As Christians, we should always pray; talk to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, about all things, good and bad. We must not run from Him at the very sign of fear and ambiguity. God is too good for us to run from Him. Rather we must run towards Him. Through thick and thin, as some may say, we should be near God.
Jesus is already always there for us regardless of how we sin. Let us all show Jesus, that we also are there through the dark and light times. Allow Jesus to fill your heart with love and compassion. Ask for forgiveness often, for as humans, we are very sinful. Thank God for the little things in life. Understand that God will always be there no matter where you go in life.
Let us be there for God too. Let us bow before our Master, our Heavenly Father and praise Him always. If you only pray once a week, try to double it. It you already pray once a day, triple it. If you already pray numerous times a day, quadruple it. No one person prays to God enough. There is not such understanding. If you do something, do more. We can always do more and make ourselves better in the eyes of God.
