All of those liberals who scream and whine for a Christ-less Christmas should move to Kokomo, Indiana, where they are celebrating a perfectly secular holiday. Maybe they'll stay there.
According to a December 14 article in the Kokomo Tribune, after attorneys advised against displaying any religious symbols, Howard County commissioners decided not to listen to requests by citizens to display a nativity scene outside the county courthouse in Kokomo during Christmas. Instead, they set up a display featuring a dinosaur, the Loch Ness monster, a fisherman, lighted candles, marching soldiers and a fire truck.
While many citizens complained, they really have nothing to complain about. This is the government they voted for. The county commissioners passed an ordinance banning religious displays. This is what you get when you try to be politically correct: a courthouse decorated like Pee Wee's Playhouse. It's perfectly PC and perfectly tacky. No nativity. No menorah. Happy Winter Solstice, Nessie!
Over in nearby Miami county, they seem to have all the common sense Howard county doesn't. They actually have two nativity displays in the county because citizens asked for them. If any other citizen asks to display other religious holiday symbols, the county says they will allow it. What a radical idea: following the will of the people.
