“I [The Lord] will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.” – Genesis 18:21

The following is an excerpted message that I preached Sunday night at Faith Center in Rockford, Illinois.

This is the title that God gave me for His message tonight (When God comes down, stuff gets done!). I must admit, when I asked Him for the title, I expected something a bit more revelatory and profound. I said “Father, can’t you give me something a little bit better than this? Maybe something a bit more profound?” To which He replied “It is more than good enough, and it’s profoundly sufficient.” I said “Okay, God, You’re the boss. “When God comes down, stuff gets done!” it is.

The Lord took me to Genesis 18:17-21: “And the Lord said, ‘Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.’ And the Lord said, ‘Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave, I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.’”

Wow! “I will go down now and see…” The Lord was about to go down and see. The Lord was about to come down. And when the Lord comes down, stuff gets done!

The phrase “I will go down” as used in this verse, comes from the same Hebrew word yawrad (pr. yaw-rad), which means “to descend, to bring down, cast down, put down or off, subdue, take down.”

I don’t know about you, but I am counting on the Lord to come down, cast down, take down, and subdue some things in me and my life!

Here is something very cool. Webster’s Dictionary defines “descend” as to “pass by inheritance,” where “inheritance” is described as “the reception of genetic qualities by transmission from parent to offspring.” Every born-again believer immediately inherits the spiritual DNA of our Divine Daddy. Every cell in our body is transfused with and transformed by the power of the Living God!

Galatians 3:29 testifies of this truth as it proclaims “If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Just as God promised, and did come down for Abraham, and on his and his families’ behalf, He does do and will do the same for us, because we are God’s seed. The same seed that birthed Abraham, also birthed us when we accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. And because of this, we are entitled to every blessing bestowed upon Abraham and secured by Christ. It’s a generational blessing, and we are part of that inheritance.

The Apostle Paul further seals the deal as he testifies in Romans 8:17 that we are heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ. Hebrews 6:13-20 backs this up as it declares “For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, ‘Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.’ And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute. Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

And sometimes we need a little bit of help managing our spiritual inheritance, and we need to call on our Father to come down.

God is coming down to see, family. He is coming down to check on His children and to move in a mighty way in us, for us, and on our behalf. Do you believe that? Good! Me too. Now go prepare a place for your Father’s visit.

Father, we need You to come down and check on us. We need You to see what we are doing, and to be involved in all of our daily affairs. Show up strong for us, as we need You to get up from Your Throne and move mightily on our behalf. Break what needs to be broken off of us and our lives, as we lift our hands in praise and worship to You. In Jesus Name, we thank You for coming down, and getting stuff done for us! Amen and Amen!

Take action! Challenge your thinking! Ask God to come down and see what is going on with you and your life. Choose to receive the correction and direction from your Father that He has been longing to bring to you. Make a daily practice of thanking God for being intimately involved in every area of your life. And continue to fight the good fight of expecting your Heavenly Father to come down; for God, your Down-to-Earth Divine Daddy, has already given you the victory!

If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!

God tells us that we are blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2). Be a blessing to someone by sending them this word of encouragement. If God did not already put someone in your spirit and on your heart that needs to read this uplifting message from above, simply ask your Heavenly Father who to bless on today. Forward this message right now by email, facebook, or twitter.

Jesus is coming soon!

May God Bless you and keep you always.

With warmest regards,

And, in service of The Most High King,
