Many gun rights activists may despise the likes of Sen Dianne Feinstien, and Rep Carolyn McCarthy. One thing that can be said about both of them is that they are consistent in their beliefs, regardless of how those beliefs go against our gun rights. Like it or not, both can be depended upon to have some sort of additional gun control legislation in mind.
Gabby Giffords’ statement before congress in January was heart wrenching. Her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly was closely by her side and could be seen helping her make her statement. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Kelly made his own statement calling on congress to close the ‘private sale loophole’, limit magazine capacity and more.
Mark E. Kelly, gun-control proponent and husband to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, recently purchased an AR-15 (an "assault weapon," he called it)—which he now says he intended as an illustration of the need for more stringent gun laws. ~Breitbart.
I just had a background check a few days ago when I went to my local gun store to buy a .45. As I was leaving, I noticed a used AR-15. Bought that too. Even to buy an assault weapon, the background check only takes a matter of minutes. I don't have possession of it yet but I'll be turning it over to the Tucson PD when I do. ~Breitbart.
Although the above is from Breitbart, Capt Kelly posted essentially the same on his Facebook page, so the fact that he actually did purchase an AR-15 is not in doubt.
As so often happens in these stories, one is left with at least a few unanswered questions. Until the Tucson shooting in which Gabby Giffords was gravely injured, the general public most likely had never heard of Capt Mark Kelly. That is unless you are an avid follower of NASA and the space program.
Since Arizona has no waiting period, why did Kelly not take possession?
Since Kelly is so against an “Assault Weapon”, why did he REALLY purchase one?
Is Kelly using his wife’s tragedy to further his own agenda on guns?
What were his beliefs on gun control before the Tucson shooting?
