An astonishing 40 percent of people still believe that homosexuality is a choice, but when asked when they choose to be straight, those people have no response.

Homosexuality, just as heterosexuality, is an innate, permanent, benign characteristic of someone. It's one of many traits that someone is born with; very similar to skin color or being left or right handed. That's just the way we're born and it can't be changed.

Homosexuality has been around just as long as heterosexuality and has been documented in over 1,500 species of animals. 10 percent of humans are born something other than straight, 10 percent of dogs and cats, 40 percent of dolphins are gay and 100 percent of Rhesus Monkeys are bisexual.

The love same-sex couples share between themselves is identical to that of straight love. To those who claim children need both a mother and a father, new research shows that children adopted into lesbian and gay families are as well-adjusted as children adopted by heterosexual parents, and follow similar patterns of gender development, said Charlotte J. Patterson, PhD, a psychology professor at the University of Virginia. In fact, an even more recent study suggests that children raised in same-sex households have higher grade point averages and are more likely to attend and graduate from college.
