National attention has been given to a video that went viral after a Whataburger food fight broke out in a Texas establishment. Christian Post reported on Sept. 25, 2013, that happened between rival high schools thanks to a football game and has brought about apologies from both students and principals from both schools.
Brandeis High School defeated O'Connor High School 12-10, and the students from the winning school went to Whataburger to celebrate. There were banners, streamers, balloons, and more. It seemed as if it was going to be a grand celebration, but things got ugly as students from both schools showed up.
The students began talking trash to one another, but soon it turned into a giant Whataburger food fight.
As the video shows, food was being thrown in every direction. Drinks and even food trays were being used as weapons. The place was a mess when it finally ended. Making matters worse is that all of the students simply left the Whataburger when they were done.
The franchise had to close the store down as Whataburger employees cleaned up the whole restaurant for at least 30 minutes.
Pascual Gonzalez, school board spokesman, have looked at surveillance video so that the students involved could be identified. Law enforcement is working with Whataburger management and school officials to solve this whole matter.
Gonzalez stated that once the students are identified, they will face school suspensions and could possibly face criminal charges as well. Luckily, no injuries have been reported.
Parents and principals issued apologies to Whatarburger employees for the food fight. The company accepted their apologies and even issued a statement.
"We understand that this act was an emotional moment between a small group of students… The Whataburger team will continue to welcome Brandeis and O’Connor students… we’re also committed to continuing the partnership and support both high schools."
