The cooler weather brings a sigh of relief for the Clear Lake area’s residents who are tired of being chased indoors by the heat. Step out of the air conditioned gyms and fill your lungs with some fresh fall air at Clear Lake Park down NASA Parkway in Seabrook, Texas.
This beautiful outdoor area calls to the residents waiting for better weather to kick off their fitness routines and to those who are in a rut grounded in indoor workouts. The newest incentive to visit the park is the gorgeous covered pavilion of no-cost use outdoor resistance exercise equipment, situated just beside the clean restrooms and overlooking a panoramic view of the glassy waters of the lake. The fifty-nine acre park also boasts a nature trail, several covered parks for children, a picnic area, tennis courts, soccer field and baseball field. The park welcomes fishing and also has a boat launch.
The scenery is the perfect setting for fitness meet up groups and several boot camp programs. These include Texas Fit Chicks Boot Camp, which is currently featuring free Saturday boot camps during breast cancer awareness month in October, during which they are accepting donations of which 100% proceeds benefit the Susan G. Koman foundation.
If boot camps do not appeal to your taste, several other fitness related meet up groups select the Clear Lake Park as their choice setting. The Clear Lake Area Walking Group, founded in 2006, enjoys the unpaved walking trails of the park. The Clear Lake Sailing Club launches into Clear Lake and Galveston Bay from the Clear Lake public ramp, and the park also attracts outdoor active social groups such as the Clear Lake Young Professionals Social and Fitness Club.
The park is built around a historical marker which denotes a Native American burial ground where it is believed that the Akokisa Native Americans used the area between 500 and 600 A.D. Near this site is the Bay Area Museum, situated within the 1893 Webster Presbyterian Church. Nearby, the Bay Area Community Center also shares an address within the park.
With this myriad of offerings to appeal to the fitness tastes of a varied population, it is hard to combat the call of Clear Lake Park and just stay indoors with the same old, same old. Seabrook residents of all ages will find something in this little gem just down the road.
