When bad events happen, we call them situations, problems, challenges or “Oh No.” Unexpected and unwanted occurrences raise their ugly heads in our lives. We may blame other people, fate, bad luck or the weather. We could go screaming for help or sinking into a “oh poor me or how could this happen to me?” mood. We might even take personal responsibility.
It’s Not about Them
The cover lines from Emotional Ice Water are “It’s not what they say or do. It’s what you think, feel and do.” Bad things happen to good people. A rotten attitude will not change the situation for the better, but a rotten attitude can make life miserable for the person directly affected and everyone around them.
Positive People Rock
In the words of a very successful and prominent entrepreneur, Susanne Crawford, the biggest issue facing small business owners is, “People lacking the correct mindset to deal with issues.” Business has and always will have issues. We cannot control the economy, the government or the weather, but we can control our attitude.
When you practice a positive mental attitude, the clouds part and rays of sunshine pour through. It is truly your choice to live in doom and gloom or turn you face and attitude toward the rays of sunshine.
Why struggle when you can feel and do so much better?
We can control our thoughts and mental focus. The old adage of “you will always get more of whatever you give your time, energy and focus” is as true today as it has been for decades.
Change your attitude and you will change your results. Focus on attracting the ideal client. Write down exactly who is the ideal client. Decide you will attract the ideal client. Expect to attract them. Form an action plan to make it happen. Execute the action plan. You will be amazed how much difference a positive attitude makes.
Jody Jelas, Big Fish Chicks, recorded the video Kill Self Doubt Forever. It is all about your positive mental attitude. Why struggle when you can develop an attitude for success and enjoy the results?
It’s what you think, feel and DO
1. Every time a negative thought dares to try to enter your mind, block it. Immediately reframe it into a positive. “What if they don’t call me back?’ “What if I don’t make enough money this month to pay my bills?’ Block it. Reframe. “This is how I plan to follow up with them. I will focus on my revenue generating activities every day until I succeed in reaching my target income.”
2. Focus on “How can I. . .” Block any negative thoughts immediately.
3. Select your top three priorities for the day, week, month and year. Constantly check your progress. Setting interim “checkpoints” makes it easier to stay on track. “How can I achieve my top three priorities?” Go make it happen.
4. A healthy body – sufficient restful sleep, good nutrition and consistent exercise – gives you energy. With energy, it is easier to think positive. It is so much easier for your mind to function at peak performance if you give it a little help with a healthy body.
Surround yourself with people who truly practice a positive mental attitude. Reduce or eliminate time with Negative Nellie and David and Debbie Downer. You don’t need them and they will bring you down. Instead set the example for them to come up to you.
