Huffington Post is reporting on Dec. 6, 2013, in response to the backlash PETA has experienced in their newest campaign, Plan V. Huffington Post stands by PETA saying it is not wrong for them to urge people, especially women to ‘go vegan’ in hopes to shed weight.
The Plan V campaign, itself is not bad. Veganism is a wonderful way to eat and live. However, if the women only do it for weight loss, she likely will not be very successful. Being a vegan is a large commitment to yourself and animals.
Honestly, Beyonce is getting more converts with her fans adapting to her new vegan lifestyle than the PETA will ever convert. The PETA was right about a few things though. A vegan typically weights about 18% lighter than a meat eater. They are less likely to be obese, much less. There are about 25% of vegans are obese oppose to 60-65% of meat eaters.
Do you think PETA is fat shaming? The real concern is, as nations are we too sensitive to weight issues and unable to see the alarming obesity rates so we can work to lower them?
