What to wear on New Year's Eve...

Whether you're in Times Square or on your comfy couch, you're going to spend New Year's Eve in style. No matter what you're planning to do, make sure you ring it in in style...

If you're going to a cocktail party...

Everyone knows cocktails taste best in cocktail attire. And when it comes to cocktail attire, the dress is the key. To play it safe, opt for a little black dress. On NYE you can get away with dresses that are a little shorter or tighter (or both!). Try BCBG's Strapless Taffeta Dress or the Strapless Two-Tone Dress. For an extra pop, snatch J.Crew's Stone Garden Clutch. Nothing's as sexy as an LBD with a daring clutch.

If you're going to a black-tie event...

If you have to wear a floor-length dress, the key is remember two things: It's not your wedding. It's not your prom.  So keep is simple. Avoid the taffeta and glitz (keep the sparkles on shorter dresses).  Try Kay Unger's Strapless Jersey dress from Saks. The material and cut make is understated.  It'll be clear that looking fabulous comes naturally to you.

If you're going to a swanky bar...

If you must stick with the LBD, make sure you embrace chunkier jewelry. Think baubles, glitz and color. Check out J.Crew's Crystal-and-Pearl Pastiche Necklace for inspiration. If you're feeling more daring, embrace a bold dress, such as J.Crew's Ikat Bow Dress. Just remember to make sure your confidence is as bold as the dress.

If you're snuggling up on your couch...

Remember that comfort is essential, but you never know who might stop by for a midnight kiss. Try J.Crew's Chambray Tuxedo Shirt and leggings. If he does stop by, he'll see that you're way too cool to get wrapped up in New Year's Eve, yet still look breathtakingly beautiful.
