The Informant!
7 p.m. HBO
While trying to make a case of price fixing against Archer Daniels Midland, FBI agents receive an unexpected surprise when they rely on executive Mark Whitacre (Matt Damon) to supply them with evidence against the corporate giant. The problem is that Whitacre provides such bewildering information that the agents don’t know whether he is lying to them or just insane. Scott Bakula, Patton Oswalt, and Joel McHale co-star in this 2009 comedy thriller from Stephen Soderbergh.

Persons Unknown
7 p.m. NBC (Local WSMV Channel 4)
In the new episode “Identity,“ the new night manager, Mr. Ulrich (Alan Smyth), makes an announcement which leaves the group feeling even more uneasy about their situation, especially after they return to their room to find personal items from their lives. Elsewhere, while exploring a deserted town, Kat and Renbe find more than they expected.

Lake Placid 3
8 p.m. SyFy
Eureka’s Colin Ferguson is apparently not getting enough weirdness from his own show, so he seemingly signed up for this TV movie to cash in on the extra strange. Ferguson stars in this 2010 horror film about (and this is no joke) “baby raptor crocodiles” that hunt any humans stupid enough to venture enough o the titular lake. Yancy Butler (Witchblade) also stars.

Sunday, August 22

NFL Preseason Football
7 p.m. NBC (Local WSMV Channel 4)
After a whole off-season of his annual will he or won’t he game, Brett Favre is officially back and starting for the first time this preseason for the Minnesota Vikings, who’ll be taking on quarterback Alex Smith’s San Francisco 49ers, as both teams try to prepare themselves for the regular season.

True Blood
8 p.m. HBO
After unexpectedly having his life spared on last week’s episode, Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) takes precautions, knowing that Russell (Denis O’Hare) and his wolf pack are out to find him. Meanwhile, Bill (Stephen Moyer) tells Sookie (Anna Paquin) more about her the truth of her identity, warning about the dangers she will face, and Sam (Sam Trammell) begins having flashbacks following the beating he gave to Calvin Norris, revealing that Sam’s latest violent outburst is just one of many. Ryan Kwanten also stars in the new episode “I Smell a Rat.”

Mad Men
9 p.m. AMC
In the new episode “The Chrysanthemum and the Sword,” Don and Pete (Jon Hamm, Vincent Kartheiser) take a huge risk when they decide to go against Roger (John Slattery) to land a new, much sought after, account. January Jones, Elizabeth Moss, and Christina Hendricks also star.
