Cheryl Cole joins the big list of stars in the upcoming film “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.”
The British singer and former “X Factor” judge reportedly landed the role after impressing movie execs at Cannes Film Festival this year.
“She will film the scenes imminently and is really looking forward to it,” a source told the Daily Mail. “It doesn’t mean she suddenly wants to become an actress. It was just an opportunity that has come up while she has been having some downtime and she thought it would be great fun to take part.”
Cole joins former Long Beach Polytechnic High School student Cameron Diaz and Bellflower, Calif., native Wendi McLendon-Covey, as well as Jennifer Lopez, Matthew Morrison, Chris Rock, Isla Fisher, Elizabeth Banks, Joe Manganiello and Brooklyn Decker.
Cole will star as a talent show judge for Diaz’s character, which suits her well. The Girls Aloud singer used to judge on “The X Factor” and briefly on the US version before she was fired.
“What to Expect When You’re Expecting” is based on Heidi Murkoff’s New York Times bestselling book. The film follows four couples who prepare to have children.
The film’s release date is May 11, 2012.
