What to do this week

Presidents Day weekend gave a great boost to everyone who loves outdoor recreation. The weather was perfect. New snow dusted the ski resorts and gently washed parts of the valley.

The rest of the week looks to be just as good as the weekend. Weather reports call for a bit of snow to once again dust the ski slopes, and for warmer, sunny weather to come in at mid-week.

Tahoe area ski resorts continue to look very good for a wonderful day of skiing. Steven Hemphill, PR Director at Sierra-at-Tahoe, looks for extremely good conditions throughout the week.

Northstar's Jessica Vanpernis is likewise upbeat about the coming week's ski conditions. In addition, Northstar hosts a Madi Gras celebration on Tues. Feb. 21 in the Village.

Other resorts in the Tahoe area are offering discounted lift tickets and activities as well. Here's the list, check with them to see what's in store:

If skiing or being in the mountains isn't your idea of good outdoor fun, the weather is going to be perfect for a bike ride, run, or leisurely stroll just about anywhere in the greater Sacremento area.

Lake Natoma will be a great spot to launch your kayak or canoe during the coming week as well. Park at Willow Creek or the CSUS Aquatic Center and paddle away.

UC Davis' arboretum features ducks, trees, plants, and interpretive guides for a walk through the flora and fauna there. If you've never been, the arboretum is a magical place to explore.

Whatever you choose to do, get outside and enjoy that ride, walk, or ski.
