What time is it in Sochi? 2014 Winter Olympic fans need to decipher time zones

See also

The 2014 Sochi Olympics is in Russia and viewers are trying to wrap their heads around the time zone differences to figure out exactly when they can watch the Olympic Games. There will be over 1,500 hours of tape delayed content from NBC, but some fans would like to be able to watch the events, like Olympic hockey games, live. According to TV Guide on Monday, Sochi is nine hours ahead of the Eastern time zone and 12 hours ahead of the Pacific time zone.

So what time is it at the Olympics? If viewers in the United States are looking for an exact time for the games to watch online, they can figure out their time zone and compare it to the nine or 12 hours example. Almost all the live action at Sochi will be late at night or early in the morning for viewers in America to watch. Of course this doesn't include NBC’s coverage where the majority of the moments are going to be tape delayed.

The Time Zone converter is a simple, free program where the viewer’s exact time can be compared to Sochi, Russia. Moscow is also located in the same time zone as Sochi, so to simplify it even further, comparing the local time to Moscow can easily offer the time for the Olympics and offer a chance to watch the games live online (or on television depending on where in the world the viewer resides.)
