What time does the Super Bowl start: 2013 kickoff time, halftime performances (Video)

Attention, sports-fans: though Google's intuitive quick-search may lead you to search "what time does the Superbowl start 2013?" when you plug in a query about this year's championship kick-off time, the term Superbowl is actually incorrect. What you should be asking, of course, is "What time does the Super Bowl start?" As in any "Bowl" match-up, the words in the game's title are separated: Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and so on. (Can't you fix this, Google? This is your suggested search!)

Now that that's out of the way, we've got the details on this year's Super Bowl 2013 kickoff time and halftime show celebrity performances for you right here. Get it all below the jump, including a video showing new photos from Beyonce's halftime show rehearsals!

What Time Does The Super Bowl Start 2013: Kickoff Time and Halftime Performances

Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. EST/3:30 PST on Sun., Feb. 3. Here in Tucson, football fans huddled at Super Bowl XLVII parties across town will watch kickoff commence at 4:30 p.m., with pre-game coverage preceding on this year's network, CBS; check local TV listings to confirm time and channels in your area. The 30-minute "CBS Kickoff Show" will immediately precede the game.

Super Bowl XLVII will make history right from the start, with NFL coaches Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh becoming the first pair of brothers to have opposing teams in a Super Bowl; Jim Harbaugh coaches the San Francisco 49ers, while John Harbaugh coaches the Baltimore Ravens. The next-level episode of sibling rivalry that will play out on Feb. 3 is being called Harbaugh Bowl, or HarBowl for short by fans online. Read more about the Harbaugh brothers here.

Alicia Keys will perform the national anthem before the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens attempt to destroy each other inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. This will be the third time the singer has performed at a Super Bowl.

This year, there are rumors Destiny's Child will reunite during the big game's halftime show. Beyonce held a press conference on Jan. 31 and confirmed she will sing live at the Super Bowl, stating, "I was born for this." As for why she chose to lip sync at the Inauguration Day ceremony, Beyonce cited the cold weather and a lack of time to rehearse with the U.S. Marine Band. (Read more on that and watch the performance here.) Beyonce said she "sang along to a pre-recorded track", a common "safety-net" practice at big events. As for Super Bowl XLVII, however, Bey promised the real deal.

Though she stayed sly about reunion rumors, Beyonce did say there was "nothing like" singing with Destiny's Child, and reminded reporters the group recently released a new song together. It is expected that Destiny's Child will indeed perform live (likely the set list will include a portion of the new song, titled "Nuclear", the group's first single in nearly a decade) during the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show; tune in mid-way through the game to see if the rumors are correct (approximately 6:30 p.m. here in Tucson).

Last year, Madonna performed at the 2012 halftime show with Cee-Lo Green, rapper M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj; M.I.A. flipped the bird and Madonna nearly danced right off the stage, suffering a minor slip. Read more and check out video here.

In 2011, the hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas performed to mixed reviews, and Christina Aguilera didn't fare too well with our national anthem. Revisit X-tina's flub with a full 2011 halftime recap and video here.

In closing, whether you searched "What time does the Superbowl start?" or "What time does the Super Bowl start?" in order to arrive on this page (incidentally, the Bing search engine will correctly offer a predictive search for the latter), we hope you found everything you needed!
