An unprecedented event in human history is about to unfold. Stephen G. Bassett – the Executive Director of the Paradigm Research Group (PRG) will gather over 30 witnesses, lead by former Apollo 14 Astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell – to testify before former members of the US Congress about their knowledge of and first-hand experience with an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race. The goal of this event is to end the US government's policy of silence and denial concerning the ET issue. This event will take place at the National Press Club in Washington DC in April 2013.
THE PRESS NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT 80 MILLION AMERICANS ALREADY BELIEVE.
The world press, often referred to as the mainstream media, has chosen to ignore the issue of government involvement in matters relating to what is commonly known as unidentified flying objects. The purpose of this presentation is point out to the press that it has an obligation to assess and investigate an issue that has crept beyond their control to become part of an overwhelmingly large and expansive wave of public opinion.
In a recent National Geographic poll it was revealed that 80% of the American public believe their government is hiding the truth about the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life that may in fact be visiting this planet. The poll extrapolates that percentage as a staggering 80 million Americans who believe their government is not telling the truth about what it knows about UFOs. Based on these numbers, the press has an obligation to ask more questions of the government and to tell the public more about the levels of secrecy surrounding the UFO/ET phenomenon.
However, to this day the press refuses to take this massive wave of public sentiment seriously by rejecting any initiative or investigation that would demand an open public review of this matter by elected government officials. The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure is poised to fill this void by presenting government with indisputable testimony and challenging the mainstream press to cover it all.
Under any other set of circumstances, if 80% of the American public were to believe any subset of information was true, the press would quickly recognize and satisfy the public's hunger for the story by tripping over one another - on a rampage to cover it. This kind of aggressive journalism sells newspapers, web ads and magazines and boosts TV and radio revenues and ratings. Yet, when a well respected institution like the National Geographic Society publishes a poll stating 80 million Americans believe their government is hiding UFO evidence, the mainstream press, true to form, simply ignores or ridicules such evidence - evidence that, by the way, has already been corroborated by NASA astronauts, airline and air force pilots, FAA officials and other retired USAF officers - some of whom will testify at the Citizen Hearing.
It remains clear a growing majority of American citizens have grown tired of this kind of journalism; one that relies on an antiquated sense of objectivity and the immorality of complicity, denial and silence.
HOW DID WE GET TO THIS POINT IN HISTORY - DENYING REALITY?
Decades ago the American government made an historical decision. All of humanity has had to live with the political, scientific and social repercussions of this decision for 65 years.
Because of the thousands of unexplained yet officially documented unauthorized incursions by craft of unknown origin into its airspace and the uncertainty these events might engender in a jittery post-war America, the US government in co-operation with an entrenched US military establishment, decided to treat the citizenry they were sworn to represent and protect as children and withhold all of this information from them. This is not conspiracy theory - it is fact.
The American government fell silent on the same matter they once spoke of freely. The first Director of the CIA from 1947 to 1950, Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter stated in the New York Times, “It is time for the truth to be brought out... Behind the scenes, high-ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about the UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense... I urge immediate Congressional action to reduce the dangers from secrecy about Unidentified Flying Objects...”
Despite such testimonials by high ranking US officials, the US government made a unilateral decision 65 years ago for national security reasons - to arbitrarily render all its information about UFOs 'off-limits' to its citizens. Since then it has been the policy of the US government to keep the truth behind the reality of an Extraterrestrial presence a secret from its citizens. [Ed. Note: ZlandCommunications is in possession of verified Canadian and American documents attesting to the accuracy of this statement.] For a number of unacknowledged reasons, governments of the world as well as mainstream media have inexplicably followed suit. Ultimately this 65 year-old decision by the US government brought into existence a carefully orchestrated policy - an unspoken embargo on the truth beyond the over-sight of elected officials and the purview of the people.
It became the policy of the United States government to lie to its people.
A fabric, woven with threads of government lies, media complicity and public complacency has wrapped the UFO/ET issue in fear, secrecy and disbelief. Essentially there are two reasons why we find ourselves entwined in such systemic denial and a shroud of secrecy.
First, the US government's choice to relegate the UFO/ET matter to conspiratorial none sense - despite their own massive military data base - was a well calculated yet simple 'cut and paste' operation into the naive consciousness of the 1950's and 60's post-Roswell press era. Using President Truman's National Security Act of 1947 - the government could now run rough-shod over the First Amendment and other parts of the Constitution by simply stating that certain matters could be declared secret if the interests of national security were threatened by its release. The government and military now had capacity to pick and choose what it deemed to be the truth by replacing it with a relentless series of manufactured lies about these 'alien craft' over-which they had no control whatsoever.
This politically motivated psychological-surgery was tantamount to an ideological frontal lobotomy performed on the American people as well as the press without an incision being made or a drop of blood being shed.
Secondly, the US military began a new era of psychological warfare and press manipulation by cleverly reversing its first public press release to now read the Roswell event was a crashed weather balloon and not a downed 'flying saucer' as first reported. From that day forward, the press fell into line; it ceased to question any of the gospels according to the Pentagon. By 1952 UFO sightings were at an all time high. A thoroughly perplexed public and similarly bewildered press were well accustomed to believing and trusting an indomitable US military complex that had just defeated Nazi Germany and the imperial forces of Japan. Government and military officials pursued a steady course of denial and misrepresentation of UFO sighting reports. Officials had little difficulty convincing media to follow their lead - interest in flying saucers among the press and a vast majority of the public gradually fell off.
With the evil forces of one set of foreign enemies subdued, the well-honed war-time secrecy tactics of the US military were perfectly positioned to take as much liberty as necessary to quell any public interest in a UFO flap. By confiscating and then re-manipulating bizarre stories of 'flying saucers' into a contrived form of folklore, based on weather balloons, flocks of geese, mis-identifications of Venus and swamp gas, the US military pretty much had full control over UFO secrecy.
Conditions in a post-war America were ideal to easily annihilate this new threat from above without a shot being fired - simply tell the public what to believe by telling the press what to print - end of story.
Thanks to an indolent press in combination with complacency among elected officials, a glass ceiling of virtually impenetrable thickness has been erected above the UFO/ET matter - none of it escapes into the public domain. Those in the media who try to crack the ceiling are left with serious professional bruises by attempting to reveal the nature and intent of the truth embargo.
Stephen G. Bassett wants to change this. His goal - through PRG - is to end the truth embargo by having the United States government and other world governments acknowledge the Extraterrestrial presence and in doing so, stop the policy of silence and denial.
Bassett's hope that the over thirty witness who are ready to tell their story at the Washington DC Citizen Hearing on Disclosure will recast history and - once and for all end the silence and denial.

WHAT IS THE CITIZENS HEARING ON DISCLOSURE ABOUT AND WHEN IS IT?
This event will have historical implications. The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure will be held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC from April 29 to May 3, 2013. At that time over 30 researchers and military/federal agency witnesses will testify for thirty hours over five days before former members of the United States Congress.
The subject matter of this hearing is an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race. The motto of this hearing is, "If Congress will not do its job, the people will."
The last time the Congress of the United States held a hearing on what is arguably the most important issue in the world today was in 1968 before the House Committee on Science and Astronautics.
