Last month, the team at Show-Me-Shoes Foundation kicked off its Prom Project 3.0. The focus of the project is to collect donations of dresses (new or slightly worn), shoes, and other related accessories as a way of providing such items for high school aged women in need of items so they are able to participate and enjoy themselves for one of the more memorable evenings of their high school careers (either their junior or senior prom).
After the conclusion of their drive (on March 8th), the foundation is primed to provide the community with the opportunity to not only "shop" for their prom attire, but enjoy a day full of fun and giveaways. On Sunday, March 17th, from 2-7pm, "buyers" are invited to come out to the DMV Plaza (8030 Rockbridge Road) to get the items they need in order to have an outstanding experience for their special evening.
Located directly next to the Dollar General Store (within the plaza), patrons are able to shop while listening to the soundtrack provided by DJ Nee Nee. Those in attendance are also able to register for giveaways such as free hair makeovers, make-up applications, and other related items.
With their partner group in Kansas City planning a similar "shopping date", there is a need for make-up artists, nail technicians, and hair stylists to lend their support. For additional information, you may call 816-866-SHOE or email them at shoemeshoesfoundation@gmail.com.
In Kansas City and Atlanta, the foundation is focused on multiple means of womens' empowerment and uplifting of one's self-esteem and self-image. This Sunday, Atlanta can see first-hand the creative ways in which this can be done.
Besides, what better way is there than restoring women's confidence...starting with the sole.
