It seems the plan for the Kansas City Chiefs is the most set in stone heading towards the NFL Draft. They have one primary need, and the pick to make that need happen.
They must get some offensive line help to help protect their investment in Matt Cassel, and find a way to open up some holes for their running game. The Chiefs gave up 45 sacks in 2009, and their third leading rusher was their QB. Those are not good stats.
While their leading rusher, Jamaal Charles, did rush for 1,120 yards, and they gained over 1,900 on the ground as a team they need help on their offensive line to continue that success. Also, it would be nice to watch a Chiefs game and not see Cassel running around the backfield for his life.
It seems very likely that Oklahoma State OT Russell Okung will be available for the Chiefs to draft with the fifth pick. This is a virtual no brainer, he is the best OT tackle prospect in this draft and the highest need for the Chiefs.
On the slight change that Okung is off the board by the fifth pick the Chiefs could address their O line needs by taking Mike Iupati of Idaho. Iupati is the best guard in this draft, and a consensus first round draft pick. It might be a little bit of a reach to take him with the fifth pick, but the Chiefs could defiantly use him.
Failing all of that it seems that the Chiefs could add a big time wide receiver to their list of offensive weapons. It would not be the ideal way to build this team, but none the less it could happen.
In that case the only WR even close to being considered a top ten pick is Dez Bryant, but it seems highly unlikely the Chiefs will go in this direction. I would look for them to add a wide out via free agency over drafting one in the first round.
