The Rock and Blues Concert series kicks off their season on Friday night, June 6, 2014, with John Brown's Body Band with Nth Power. The Provincetown II leaves Boston Harbor at the World Trade Center Pier, 200 Seaport Blvd., Boston at 8:00 p.m.

John Brown's Body brought reggae to Boston and to the world long before it was popular and in the main stream. The band is Elliot Martin on lead vocals, Tommy Benedetti on drums, Nate Edgar on bass, Jay Spaker on guitar, Jon "JP" Petronzio on keyboards, Scott Flynn / Alex Asher on trombone, Drew Sayers on saxophone, Sam Dechenne on trumpet and Kenny Christianson on sound. Big sound, great band and what better place to see them!

The Juke Joint 5 will be at the Next Page, 550 Broad Street, East Weymouth (781)340-1300 on Friday night. The Juke Joint 5 is a Boston based group who plays house rocking kick ass electric blues. Band members are Gretchen Bostrom on vocals, John Bunszell on bass, Dick “The Poet” Lourie on saxophone, Silvertone Steve on guitar and Noah Teshu on drums. The Next Page is a great venue and often times other musicians will get up and jam with the band that is playing. Also, I can't forget to mention the free pizza towards the end of the night! The Middleeast, 472-480 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge (617)864-3278 has Benny Trouble Goodman and Evening. This band has been building a reputation around Boston with high end stage production and a powerful performance. They were featured at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in 2013 and helped raise money in conjunction with the Boston Bruins to support the One Fund aiding those affected by the Boston Marathon Bombing. Saturday, June 7, 2014, Diezel Diezelband will be at Scoreboard Sports Bar and Grill, 15 Middlesex Canal Park in Woburn. Diezel covers everything from rock to rap, edgy to pop and mellow. The band formed in 2007 with Gary Massucco, John Mauriello, and Richie Laquidara from the band Busted Nutzz joining Rob Wesinger and Steve Lakos from the Maxwells. In 2010 singer Wesinger had to leave and new singer Sergio Lepore joined the group. Recently they are back to being a five piece with the addition of keyboard player Curtis Spargo. Heavy Metal Band, Demons Alley is live at the Lucky Dog, 89 Green Street, Worcester, this Saturday June 7, 2014. Doors open at 1:00 p.m., 21+. Bands playing for this event are: (in order of appearance) Far From Eden, Our Former Selves, DEMONS ALLEY and Thinner.

DEMONS ALLEY play rock and roll like they don't care if they live or die, and it makes for an explosive and exciting live show. The band has just released their first full-length CD, entitled "Dead End Tricks" recorded at Side Two Studio in Boston, as well as consistently performing concerts throughout the region. The band is: Lead singer and guitarist "Pink", lead guitarist and singer "Dead Man" Dave Meyer, bassist and singer Nico Youngblood and drummer Matt "Mayhem" Johnson. What better way to kick off the season than with The Fat City Band making its first appearance of the beach season. The Fat City Band is a 7 piece, high energy, swing, jump blues, New Orleans stlye R&B band. They have a 40 year legacy both locally and nationally, and have shared the stage with some of the all time greats of the industry. James Brown, B.B. King and Ray Charles to name a few.
