Revelation 12:10-12 (NKJV)
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”
What’s your story? Everyone has one. Little girls love fairytales while little boys love adventure. Some thrive on fiction while others stick strictly to the facts. You can dive into romance or swim in drama or learn how to fix things including you. There is every imaginable outcome with some writers even allowing you to determine the ending. The Word of God tells us that every moment of our life has already been transcribed by the Lord. (Psalm 139:16) Will we stay true to His Plan containing a future and hope designed for our good? (Jeremiah 29:11) Or choose to love the darkness more than the Light? The choice is ours what the outcome of our story will be. I prefer love stories especially the ones with happy endings. The sad reality is that we are all born into terrible tragedy of jilted love and betrayal. God loved us. He created people to live in a covenant relationship for all of their life. The very first couple in the first few days decided that His Love and Company was not enough so reached out for more. The forbidden fruit was way more inviting than the abundance of the garden. Just one taste, a quick bite and it was over just that fast. If it seems dramatic, it is. If it seems dark, well it is that too. Life is all about the choices we make every single moment of every day. Each determines the course of the outcome. What will it be? You have the power to change the ending of your life. It begins today. You were born destined to die as the generational curse of our ancestors rest solely on your shoulders. Will you live out the tragedy and succumb to the outcome dictated by sin or will you be an overcomer? The end of the book says that you win if you endure to the end. You will be saved. You have been given all the elements of the greatest love story ever told, but will you live it?
2 Peter 1:2-11 (NKJV)
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God has given us everything that we need to live a god-like life. He has given us divine power to use to release the Kingdom of God in our life today. (Matthew 16:19) Such responsibility is given to those who have identified Jesus Christ as the Son of God, asked Him to be their Savior for the forgiveness of sin, and determined to make Him Lord of their rebellious life by repentance that keeps turning them back toward Him. It is not enough to say that He is the Son of God every demon in hell knows that this is true. It is not enough to ask for His Blood to cover our sins. You must believe in your heart what you think and say so that it manifests in a change of heart which is salvation for our soul. At that moment, Jesus Christ slaps the Keys to His Kingdom in your hands. You know have power. The same spirit that lived in Christ now lives inside of you. You now have the power of binding and loosing in your life according to the Word of God. (Matthew 18:18) This is the ability to line our life up with the Word of God to ensure every single precious promise comes to pass. We have Eternity planted in our heart. (Ecclesiastes 3:11) There is a measure of faith that the Lord graciously provides to get us started but if we never cultivate faith, hope and love (three Eternal qualities in life - I Corinthians 13:13) it will never change the course of our life and rewrite the ending forever. We have been given a beautiful love story to live out, but we must allow God to write His Name on our heart and be the author of our life. He wants every single detail to turn out for our good. (Romans 8:28) As shortsighted human beings, we don’t see the end from the beginning but the Lord does.
Romans 10:8-11 (NKJV)
But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
There are two key elements required to have a story that culminates in a happy ending. I do not like sad tragedies. There is too much of that in life already. I do not watch a whole lot of television or attend movies much anymore. The message is clear that we live in a perverse and violent world. The highest rated shows are based on heinous crimes. It is all about drama, seduction and depravity. There is no condemnation in Jesus Christ. There is no judgment in my words. I have just found that as I fall more in love with Jesus, He has changed my heart. I see the things that used to seem ordinary and common as a detriment. I do not listen to a whole lot of secular music anymore. The lyrics are deceptive and misleading. However, the beat is catchy and the tune inviting. I want to overcome. I need to have more of Him in my life so I have to get rid of anything that would fill my heart with darkness or plant seeds of rebellious thoughts. I want His Word near me – in my mouth and heart. Faith is mine to give to whatever I choose, but when I am holding on to this world and this life, I lose my soul. It is just not worth the risk. If I confess with my mouth (testify) that Jesus is my Savior and Lord, and believe in my heart that the Power of God is in Him – I am saved. The Blood of the Lamb covers me flooding my heart, mind and body ultimately saving my soul. With my mouth, I confess my allegiance to Jesus Christ to the world, but my words mean nothing if I do not believe it. My life will not change from a terrible tragedy to successful fairytale unless I am willing to change the ending for myself. God gave His Only Son because He loved me first and best. Jesus Christ wants to be my Bridegroom. This is not an arranged marriage but one of my choosing – faithfulness is what I have to give the Lord so I decide if I will live happily ever after.
I John 1:5-9 (NKJV)
If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His Son. He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
What you believe determines how you live. God told us that Jesus is His Son when He came out of the water after being baptized by John the Baptist. He confirmed it again at the transfiguration of Christ. God has definitely identified Jesus as His Son multiple times. If you believe that Jesus Christ is Lord than your life will become testimony to this fact that you believe. A testimony is your firsthand account of what you believe to be true. What you believe is that which you have confidence in by faith. When you believe something to be true, you will live by such Truth. We have been given all Truth in the Word of God along with the Grace of Jesus Christ. (John 1:17) But in order for one’s life to be changed, we must adopt this new Truth as reality and live what we believe which is demonstrated in confident hope that sees those things as though they were. (Romans 4:17) Everyone has a testimony. The core values and beliefs that comprise one’s life. This is the testimony of God’s People. I have Eternal life and that life is in the Son of God – Jesus Christ. Now I must make my life line up with His Truth in order to achieve His Ending which is salvation. I must not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:16) It becomes my life story when covered by His Blood. It is all that I have to boast about. (Galatians 6:14) If Jesus Christ is your Savior, you will live like it. If He is your Lord, you will act like it. You will testify of His Goodness, Mercy and Grace available as His Love is poured over your life. You will determine to remain in righteousness and radical repentance just to be close to Him! Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He is all that we need to secure every single promise and blessing associated with divine inheritance reserved for God’s Kids. You are a Child of God even if you have gone prodigal. He just wants you to come home. He sent His Son to secure your return now the rest is up to you. Will you step out of the darkness into the Light? Whom the Son sets free is indeed free. Will you turn back home and run straight into the Father’s Arms today? He doesn’t care how far you have wandered physically, emotionally or spiritually – the Lord just wants His Beloved to return to His Kingdom forever. You will never receive it until you believe it that it belongs to you!
I John 5:1-5 (NKJV)
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
We are all overcomers in Jesus Christ. The climax of our story is when the prince comes and rescues the fair maiden. It is the point when the hero defeats evil for the good of all mankind. I have never watched the movie, Titanic. This is an epic story of the ship that hits an iceberg sinking resulting in the tragic death of over 1,500 people including men, women and children with less than half surviving. I know the outcome so I refuse to watch the movie and subject myself to such devastation. I would much rather watch a feel-good story with a happy ending. We are born of God. Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. Victory belongs to those who overcome sin and darkness. Faith in Jesus Christ allows us to do this so now we become equipped with everything we need to win. You win. In every single situation, you are victorious no matter how horrific, painful, or lasting your situation feels – you will get over it because you are an overcomer in Jesus Christ. Imagine how joyfully you be paying the cashier for a lottery ticket, if you knew tomorrow you would wake up a winner. If you knew you were going to win, you would go to bed with eager anticipation of the next day of your life when the numbers on your ticket would line up with those listed in the newspaper. You would prepare to go exchange it for millions of dollars already doling the cash out in your mind. Your attitude and actions would immediately change if you believe it belonged to you. Need I remind you today that in Heaven the streets are made of pure gold and the gates of precious pearls? Earthly wealth is nothing compared to the precious promises belonging to overcomers in Jesus Christ. If you stopped hoping you could win and believing that you have the victory, situations in your life would begin to line up with the world as faith in the Lord turned into confident hope. If you knew that all you needed to do was keep your life lined up with God’s Will, Way and Word that in every single situation you would be a winner not be concession but unanimous decision, oh you would cling to Jesus Christ alright – the Lord would not move in any direction without feeling your hands clenching His Robe of Righteousness refusing to ever let go. See you haven’t read the story, you do not know the outcome otherwise you would be living as an overcomer today rather than underachieving in your weak faith and comfortable compromise. You would not be settling for second because you would know that you can win!
John 16:33 (NKJV)”These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
One of our precious sons has battled cancer for more than two years now. The road has been long and the journey exhausting. Even now we are in the midst of the unknown and surrounding by unimaginable circumstances that makes his fight seem futile and the battle lost. But that’s not at all how we see things, we have stepped out of man’s definition of reality into the realm of confident hope. We are doing everything in the natural to produce a medical healing. But we are absolutely certain that the Lord will miraculously heal our son. The Lord is ready to heal Him. He will beat cancer not because modern medicine finally cures Him but in God’s Timing when His Word comes to pass that our son will live and not die to declare the Works of the Lord forever!” He has already overcome by the Blood of the Lamb (Jesus Christ is His Lord and Savior) and by the Word of His Testimony (He believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth) that he has accepted the Word of the Lord as His Promise for his life. We cannot get all mixed up in statistical data. We hear the report of the doctors but remain focused on the Promises of God. We will walk and not grow weary because the Lord said that He is with us. We now must endure and wait until His Promise comes to pass by faith and confident hope that anchors us in His Kingdom as we confess allegiance to Jesus Christ. This is the place that we find the peace that passes understanding that keeps our sanity in the storm. Perfect peace is promised to those who rest in the Lord. Faith flourishes in the absence of fear. Overcomers have such peace because all they do is win!
Revelations 3:7-13 (NKJV)
“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My Word, and have not denied My Name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My New Name. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’
The sin of mankind slammed the door shut to the Kingdom of God. He did that so that we would not eat from the Tree of Life and suffer in sin forever. But look what happens, in Revelation 2:7, “to him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” We have a happy ending. God is letting us back in to His Abundance. Thanks to the Blood of the Lamb, our sin is no longer a threat. We have a brand new life if we are willing to walk out of darkness into the Light of His Amazing Love. Jesus Christ has offered you the keys to His Kingdom – will you take them? To those who do this, doors will be opened that no one can shut. It will close the door to common things so you will experience the supernatural in all things. When we become weak in our flesh, we have strength in the confident hope secured by faith in Jesus Christ and acceptance of inheritance as Sons and Daughters of God. If you believe this is true, you will live like it. If you want what the Lord has promised, you have determined it to be the best and worth waiting for. Such people persevere in problems and persist in pain knowing that the Lord is carefully perfecting all that concerns them according to His Will, Way and Word. Those who choose to be covered in the Blood of the Lamb and change the testimony (story) of their life will have all that God promised to the righteous ones who overcome. You are an overcomer. You are a winner. You will not fail but flourish. You not fall but live with renewed strength in your human weakness. The Lord is writing His Name on your heart today! He wants to change every outcome for good. He wants the very best for you! What’s your story? Why don’t you tell somebody about it!
Revelation 21:6-7 (NKJV)
And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”
