As competition for restaurant customers grows due to a sluggish economy, an increasing number of restaurateurs around the country are turning to a time tested method of attracting new patrons.
Breastaurants. What’s a Breastaurant you may ask? Well think of Hooters and add newer competition such as Twin Peaks and The Tilted Kilt.
Establishments featuring scantily clad young women with nice breasts are opening in record numbers around the country.
Owners of Breastaurants say that women don’t just apply for jobs, they audition for them. Think of it as a pole dance casting call with a side of fries.
In researching today’s article, I recently went to a local Breastaurant to experience things first hand.
I chose the Brick House Tavern in Willow Grove, PA. Incidentally, the Brick House Tavern chain is doing well and in 3rd place nationally in terms of overall 2011 sales according to the Technomic Chain Database.
Business was brisk and though it was Saturday night we got a table within 5 minutes. The young women seemed to be wearing slightly more clothing and were less revealing than those I had seen at The Tilted Kilt. They had some seriously tight jeans on though.
There was live music and the obligatory multiple sporting events on multiple screens. There was a bachelor party just starting out their evening but I also noticed a few families with children there too.
I asked a few guys why they would choose a Breastaurant over a more traditional restaurant. One guy named Steve who was dining alone said that seeing “chicks dressed like this” gave him something to do besides being around the same old people at the local pub.
I spoke to a group of 4 younger guys who said they were there to see who among them could “pick up one of these hot biatches”. In fact they had a pool going with 40 bucks to the first to get a phone number from one of the servers.
How's the coquille Saint-Jacques in this place I asked? "Huh?" was the collective response.
Well at least the patrons at this Breastaurant were there for the food and not to objectify anyone!
