“Growing up everyone in the Martini household knew dad preferred a nice cabernet to a pair of socks on Father’s Day,” said third generation master winemaker Mike Martini. “Not much has changed; I’d take a great cab over striped tie any day.”
Each Martini vintage is focused on a cabernet that is an equal expression of the grape variety and the vineyard site. The three selections are chosen from a combination of the family vineyards and those of our longstanding grower friends.”
For the dad who prefers the finer things in life, Martini recommends his 2011 Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon ($34). A deep purple ruby hue in the glass, this luscious vintage displays dark fruit and smoky cedar aromas. Flavors of black cherry, blackberry are framed by cedar and toasted oak on the finish.
The Sonoma County cabernet selection ($20) the perfect choice for the dad who has classic tastes. It is a blend of cabernet, petite sirah and merlot with ripe flavors of black plum jam and black currant, Hints of oak and a dash of baking spice support the fruit.
The third varietal –2011 Alexander Valley cabernet ($34) – offers an alternative for the dad who demands high quality wine packed with flavor. This decadent selection is jammy with seductive blueberry, black cherry and smoky cedar flavors and aromas.
This trio pairs beautifully with rich red meats and sauce- laden pastas.
