Welcome to What's Up!. In this new series we will give you a headsup on noteworthy events happening in the Vallejo area.
March 1-3, March 8-10 2013 Consider carving out some time to join a big tradition in this wine-growing and wine-lovin region we call home. The Wine Road is celebrating the 35th Annual Barrel Tasting during both weekends.
Unlike the Wine Road's annual Food and Wine affair, there is no food involved. This is pure tasting.at its best at over one hundred wineries in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys.
Selected wineries during these weekends offer "futures" on their barrel samples. You buy the wine now, often at a discount, then return to the winery when the wine is bottled, typically 12-18 months from now. With many of these wineries involved in limited production, this event offers wine lovers the chance to buy their favorites, while the supply lasts. As the name suggests, you will 'taste' from the barrel as well as sample their current releases
Want to bone up on wine futures? We've embedded a short video that describes wine futures and tips on buying them.
