As usual, there’s no shortage of things to do in the San Francisco Bay Area this Weekend. For starters, on Friday, October 11, at Stanford’s Frost Amphitheater, you can enjoy FREE simulcast of San Francisco’s production of Falstaff. What an opportunity.
Also this Friday, at Rohnert Park’s Spreckels Performing Center, is the opening of Learner and Loewe’s charming fantasy Brigadoon. Music, dance and romance and it only happens once every hundred years … so here’s your chance.
Saturday sees Garrick Ohisson at the incomparable Weill Hall at the Green Music Center on the Sonoma State University Campus, also in Rohnert Park. Mr. Ohisson is the only American to win the Chopin International Piano Competition. He will be performing selections from Franz List, Claude Debussy and Frédéric Chopin. Not only does this concert give you the opportunity to hear one of the world’s finest pianists; you will be in one of the world’s finest music venues. Weill Hall, entering into its second season is being touted as one of the most acoustically perfect concert halls in the world, to say nothing of the beauty of its “Arts and Crafts,” natural wood interior.
Classical not your thing? Not to worry. At Fenix in San Rafael you can catch the classic Americana Performance of The Zins presenting their unique mix of classic rock, R&B, Funk, Latin and Boogie Woogie.
An if you’re looking for something for the whole family, why not take in Cotati’s Oktoberfest. Bring the whole family and enjoy Bratwurst, German potato salad, sauerkraut, great beer, games, races and dance to oomph-pa music.
Sunday brings another afternoon of fun at Santa Rosa’s Toad in the Hole. Enjoy their Green Hop Fest. A portion of 5th street will be closed off for music and dancing. Enjoy great beer and food, fun music and a damn fun time. What’s a Green Hop Fest? Well, you’ll just have to come find out.
