What's the T?: How you were born does not define who you are

What's the T? is a documentary that explores the challenges, successes, and lives of five transgender women. These women represent normality, and what society sometimes views as abnormality, seamlessly in their daily efforts to achieve a balance of feminine presence and confidence. They are beyond and within the stereotypical male-to-female story told by prior documentarians.

What’s the T? strays from the usual storyline of transgender tragedy and medical issues. Cecilio Asuncion, Director and Producer, refused to give into the expected day-time talk show shock stories that devalue and exploit transgender women. Asuncion describes the film as, ”a CELEBRATION of all that these brave women have accomplished and seek to achieve.”

The film features Cassandra Cass, Nya Ampon, Rakash Armani, Vi Le, and Mia Tu Mutch. The ladies featured in What’s the T? are a powerful testament to the success and happiness for which all transgender women can aspire. They range from a bodacious beautiful reality starlet to a biochemistry pre-med student. After numerous interviews with potential cast members, Asuncion selected these particular ladies because of their fascinating, intriguing stories that dispel the world’s misconceptions about life as lived by transgender women.
