Sutter Home Family Vineyards celebrates then end of summer with advice on concocting the better burger with their wines.
According to the secret files collected by the winery’s large collection of recipes, cheese is the most popular ingredient with nearly 10,000 calling for a variety of cheeses. More than 6,700 include onions and more than 5,800 call for garlic.
Here are some more less-expected ingredients that have been trending over the past 20 years:
Eggs: from the “Breakfast in Bed Burger” to the “Eggs Benedict burger, ” more than 2,000 recipes use eggs. Pour this with 2012 chardonnay.
Cilantro: Southwest, TexMex, Vietnamese and Indonesian – inspired burgers all include this popular herb. Pair this with 2013 white zinfandel.
Avocados: 1,355 recipes feature the healthy green globe will go nicely with Sutter Home 2012 cabernet sauvignon.
Pears: Yes, really. 119 burgers feature pears and perhaps pinot grigio.
