So what’s up with Detox? Do we have stars in our eyes to loose weight rapidly and unhealthily? Are we seeking new spaces of Zen?
I guess everyone’s answer potentially is different, all I can say is how I see it, feel it, and how I have cared for my body over the past few years, to what seems to be my advantage.
Think about your body as a coffee pot… the inner workings receiving i.e. food, beverage, extracurricular indulgences, and processing it our through our fecal matter & urine…. Just like a coffee pot, every now and then you want to process it through with vinegar and water, and just let that run through a few times, to cleanse and release anything lingering during the intake and output process. You can do the same to your body through detox, though minus the vinegar…
For me, I feel like a few days now and again with cutting out the sweets, cutting out the excess amounts of caffeine, Carbohydrates, sugars, grains, Gluten, and so forth that we inundate our bodies with… and pumping up on the fresh fruit/veggie juices, water infused with lemon, cucumber, and berries, drinking Teas with boosting herbs, etc. is what’s up.
Putting as little heavy foods as possible and as much water, kick starts the system, and purges the stuff that otherwise might just keep getting built up.
I like to incorporate mine with specific Cardio exercises, sweating, yoga regimes, and sunshine to really process through and amp up the volume.
You will be surprised how little you truly need, and how light and aware you feel. Suddenly I find myself cleaning out my phone, and purse, etc. Becoming conscious about how each thing effects not just your body, but your life… sure the 5 Devil Dogs taste great…but what about the inner process of gluten involved to breakdown and process the sugar, and how each thing we take in, in some way effects us? What about how they might make us feel later? Lazy, lethargic, nausea's….hungry for more even.
It’s all part of being conscious, and there is nothing wrong with indulging! I recommend a great home baked sticky bun and hot cup of almond milk chocolate as much as the next one, and I will even serve it up for you ;) by the fire… with wine…and smores…. On occasion!
I do feel it is more about what we think, then what we eat. And that weight like age is but a number? I never weigh myself, I simply know how I feel good and healthy and where my body should be with all it’s curves even. And in my humbly opinion, that’s what you should go on…how you feel!
Perhaps consider a detox? Do it so it suits your needs, and makes you feel good. Don’t shock your body, rock it into wellness and health…if you listen, it will alert you to your needs. Add in raw whole fruits, vegetables and nuts if you need, as well as lightly cooked beans, etc.
Keep it light and fresh! The full moon is a great time to let go of things, starting with excess food and beverage!
