When in Parkersburg, a nice place and the place to stay is at the historic Blennerhassett Hotel located in the quiet downtown. Free hotel parking is in their lot next door. They have a lovely garden where you can dine and hear live entertainment on the stage during certain times. Indoor and outdoor dining all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner served. The breakfast is not included with hotel price but anything you order is delicious, especially the pancakes. And a nice choice for dinner could be the salmon salad or entree, both are wonderful.
If you're interested in taking a paddle boat ride to the Blennerhassett Island Historic State Park you could visit a mansion, or take a wagon hay ride that takes you around the grounds and tells you the story of the island's original inhabitants and, visit a gift shop. There are separate fees for admission and ride. There is also a museum to visit back in town where you purchase the boat tickets, it also has an admission charge.
