What's next for Meryl Davis and Charlie White?

Meryl Davis and Charlie White have had a whirlwind of a year. From winning gold in Sochi to being on Dancing with the Stars, these two have been on the go. It came as no surprise when they announced on June 6 that they will be sitting out this upcoming season as they have been going non-stop for months now. This is the first time that they are not competing in over eight years.

Only three weeks after Dancing with the Stars wrapped up, Charlie White appeared in Hawaii with long time girlfriend, Tanith Belbin. He announced through Instagram that he had proposed, releasing a photo of him and his new fiancé. The caption read: "Couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting for the best time in our life! Hashtag she said yes!!!"

Tanith Belbin is a retired ice dancer, who won the Olympic silver medal and five national titles with her partner, Ben Agosto. When Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto completed their competitive career, they only continued skating together for a short time in shows before they parted and went their own separate ways. It is difficult to say if Davis and White will follow the same pattern.

So, what’s next for Meryl and Charlie? The only thing that is for sure is that they will be grand marshals at the American Thanksgiving Day Parade in Detroit and they have committed to several ice shows. Many are speculating that this is the end of their competitive careers and some wonder how much longer they will perform together, seeing how they both appear to have different pursuits on the horizon.

Meryl Davis made quite a splash by winning Dancing with the Stars, so there is no doubt that she is receiving many invitations to do a number of things and Charlie looks more than ready to settle down, having recently purchased a home with Tanith. It would be amazing to see Charlie and Tanith coaching the next generation of ice dancers, but no official word has been released on what their future holds.

After 17 years of skating together and winning every possible title under the sun, it is only fair that Davis and White take some time to discover what’s next for them. Fans can only hope that this will not be the end of watching these two spectacular skaters perform together.
