What's new this weekend: February 11th edition

What are you doing this lovely pre-Valentines Day weekend.  Do you have a hot date or a romantic surprise for that someone special or are you completely taped out of ideas?  Have no fear.  I have the weekend round up of all the events and some romantic movies to boot and if you’re single, I’ve got some things for you too.  So let’s get to it!

FIU Herbert & Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center

In the Next Room (The Vibrator Play) – Ok.  It’s a safe bet that your boyfriend isn’t going to want to see this.  So if you’re single and you want a bit of girl power, this play is for you.  It’s set in the 1880’s and explores the origins of the vibrator. It really just depends on if you this is your cup of tea.  See website for showtimes and tickets.

Movies

The Vow – This is a film starring Rachel McAdams forgetting her memory and falling in love all over again.  I know what you’re thinking.  I already saw The Notebook.  Well, fellas suck it up again.  Chances are that your girl is going to want to run to see this movie and it’s Valentines Day weekend so you’re pretty much obligated. Rated PG-13. Romance.

Safehouse – Ok, Ladies.  You dragged him to see The Vow so now you must sit through Safehouse.  It’s an action/adventure and he’ll love it.  You’ll love it because it stars Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.  So you can pretend that you’re enjoying the action while ogling the guys.  Your welcome. Rated R. Action.

Star Wars: Episode I-The Phantom Menace – This is a tough one.  I’m sure you’ve already seen this film but do you want to see it again in 3D?  It depends on how big of a Star Wars fan you are.  It might be the perfect compromise between The Vow and Safehouse.  Rated-PG.  Action.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island – If you’re stuck with the kids this weekend, take them here to keep them entertained.  It stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and is a cute little adventurous romp that’s sure to be fun for the whole family or at least fun for the person watching your kids.  Rated PG.  Action.

TV

Saturday Night Live – Host, cute as a button Zoey Deschanel and musical guest Karmin. Sat, Feb 11 at 11:30 pm on NBC.

Be my Valentine, Charlie Brown – With a title like this, you would think that this love story was for Charlie Brown but if you know Charlie Brown you know it’s not.  It’s for Linus. Sat, Feb 11 at 8:00 pm on ABC.

Cougartown Marathon – Catch the last three episodes of the last season before Cougartown’s return on Valentine’s Day.  Saturday, Feb 11 on ABC starting at 9:00 pm.

Once Upon A Time - What could be more romantic than Beauty and the Beast?  How about if Beauty is played by Lost's Emilie de Ravin.  Come back on Monday for a full recap of Sunday's new episode. Sunday, Feb 12. 8:00 pm on ABC.
