What’s new for the garden at Burpee Seeds

Do you start your garden from seed? If you do, or are thinking about trying it, head over to the Burpee Seeds website and check out some of the new seeds they’ve got for 2013, including:

  • SuperSauce Hybrid Tomato – billed as the “world’s largest sauce tomato,” plants bear fruit with an average weight of 22 to 32 ounces. One packet of 25 seeds costs $6.50 (also available in plant form – three for $14.95).
  • On-deck Hybrid Corn – the first sweet corn designed for container gardening, each plant (four to five feet tall) will produce two to three ears per stalk. One packet of 50 seeds costs $5.95.
  • Sophistica Blackberry Hybrid Petunia – dark foliage and near-black flowers, this flower is perfect for beds, boxes or borders. One packet of 15 seeds is $5.95 (also available in plant form – six plants for $12.95).
  • Shooting Stars Eggplant – produces 3” to 4” long fruit and works well in gardens or containers. One packet of 30 seeds costs $5.95 (also available in plant form – three for $14.95).
