What's happening this weekend in downtown Tampa

We've got rock music, classical music, a couple of classic foot races, a jumpin' outdoor festival complete with salsa dancing and flamenco, the celebration of the Jewish holiday Purim by a famous Jewish reggae singer, and the thrill of the year, the Oscars.

That's right, he's a Jewish reggae singer and he is here for the past few years to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim -which celebrates the release of Jews from an evil ruler in Persia a long time ago. OSCAR EXPERIENCE: TAMPA Sunday, Feb. 24 6:30 p.m.

Whoopie! This is a really fun event every year, complete with limos, an audience dressed to the nines, lots of air kisses, papparazzi, a red carpet with 'Roan Jivers' oohing and aahing over everybody's outfits, just like Hollywood on their biggest night, and this live event up on the screen inside the theatre is one of the few around the country sanctioned by the Oscars. $30 $25
