What's happening this weekend in downtown Tampa

This weekend you can run -or walk- for somebody's life, dance to your heart's content with your little sweetheart, take in a really good parade for a good cause, or how about some terrific stand-up comedy, or buy some organic honey, take the children to learn all about Chinese culture and then top it off with watching one of the great classic movies of all time.

BREAKTHROUGH FOR BRAIN TUMORS 5K Saturday, Feb. 9 7 a.m.

It's a 5K run - or walk - through the Channelside district for an excellent organization which supports research, and provides services for people diagnosed with a brain tumor. $35 $20 kids

LITTLE SWEETHEARTS DANCE Saturday, Feb. 9 6 p.m.

The museum is turning an entire floor into a valentine fest for the kids in the family. Actually it's a dance, and there will be a light buffet and beverages and dance lessons for the kids and any adult who never learned to waltz or watusi. Admission $20 $15 kids

KNIGHT PARADE Saturday, Feb. 9 7 p.m.

The Krewe of Sant' Yago presents the annual two-hour parade wilth illuminated floats, marching bands and other attractions right down Seventh Avenue in Ybor City all the way to 22nd. Street. After the parade the shops and restaurants along the storied route will be open. If you want a bleacher seat, they cost $24 and the proceeds benefit the Krewe's education foundation.

KATT WILLIAMS Saturday, Feb. 9 8 p.m.

The Katt is back, in fact that's the name of the stand-up comedy tour, and he is in rare form, a true funny man who wows his audiences with original material. You'll laugh a lot. Tickets are $42.50 - $52.50 - $100

THE LADY FROM SHANGAI Sunday, Feb. 10 3 p.m.

Another presentation of the theatre's Sex Symbols of the Silver Screen and film noir doesn't get any better than this 1947 thriller directed by Orson Welles and starring him and his then wife, the vivacious beauty, Rita Hayworth. The shootout in the Magiz Mirror Maze is a classic and the whole film is, well, thrilling.
