This week Tempe is bursting with events from great music to major art exhibitions to opera, dance and the exciting Shen Yun Performing Arts. This opulent production transcends time and space through China’s 5,000-year-old culture with an exhilarating performance that entertains, educates, enriches and inspires. It’s a magical journey through ancient dynasties and ethnic regions of China, interspersed with legends of the culture’s creation and stories of courage in China today. The Shen Yun Dance Company was established in New York City in 2006. Its mission is to revive 5000 years of divinely inspired Chinese tradition, which was all but annihilated after 60 years of Communist rule.
Tempe’s music scene rocks this week starting with the Marquee where, all in one week, you can see O.A.R., Parachute,Citizen Cope and They Might Be Giants. There’s also great jazz, rock, blues, rockabilly, opera; heck you name it and you’ll likely find it somewhere in Tempe.
