The acting scene in New York City is alive and well with plenty of educational and fun events to attend every week. If you are looking for something to do in the upcoming weeks or months then keep an eye on this column and take a look at what’s coming up.

We hear from show business maven Lisa Gold, who is hosting the following event: “The Act Outside the Box 4th Annual Red Carpet/Black Tie Oscar Party is ON! The nominees have been announced and now it’s time to get your seat at the hottest event of the year. Suite 36 is our new location in Midtown Manhattan and boasts 42 big screen TVs for optimal viewing of the awards ceremony on Sunday, March 2nd from 6 PM until the telecast ends.

We hear from Bobby Holder that his TAPNYC Theatre Company “presents their 28th season of Off Broadway Industry Showcases. Five new all-comedy shows featuring edgy sketch-comedy, fun monologues, and hilarious songs! Each show features over 25 actors performing in front of a live audience and top NY Industry!”

The season opens with: As You Love, Laugh, and Cry, Monday February 17 and continues with The Funny Couple, Tuesday February 18; Who’s Afraid of Romance?, Wednesday February 19; The Importance of Being Theatrical, Thursday February 20; and Friday Night Fever, Friday February 21.
