If you've ever tried to convince a masculine man to wear something trendy and fashionable, especially in Chicago, don't be surprised if the man goes shopping for something new and chooses something classic and economical, especially someone who wants a big wardrobe. Our model is one of those men, at least if you check with his wife. This model went for a year without buying clothes. So if you are one of those men and feared you'd be the only one to do that, relax. You can be reassured that your frugal attitude towards your wardrobe is not unusual. For those of you who, through the Art Institute of Chicago, saw the exhibit on fashion during Impressionism in art, you may have noticed that the men who were painted and used for this exhibit all wore classic suits, without exception, unless there were others that were hidden.
Are artists who paint or photograph people during our century painting or photographing people wearing classics (including masculine ones, to be sure)? Of course, to a certain degree, one can say yes. Who hasn't seen a photo of an actor or actress who comes to the Academy Awards? The men, for the most part, wear classic suits and the women, for the most part, wear designer gowns. Take that one step farther. Who hasn't seen what designers are featuring at Macy's yet? Many haven't seen Ralph Lauren out there, pricey as he may be, in full force with his usual stunning women's and men's wear with classic styles and striking separates, as well as awesome dresses in almost unbelievable color palates. Those of you who have been particularly successful monetarily with that perfect advertising campaign this summer or the interview that landed you that new job may very well find a way to sneak a Ralph Lauren outfit into your closet. As long as your husband, wife or significant other doesn't see the price tag on one of those garments, you'll be okay. Unless, of course, you can convince him or her that you are helping with future meetings at work where you will need those clothes, don't expect to have an uneventful time working one of those items into your wardrobe.
Do you know the present day artist who is an up and coming photographer, yet to be discovered? Well, if you do, be sure to use him or her (like Mireya Acierto, for example) in your next photo shoot and mention the photographer. Whoever is featuring Michael Kors, you may be tempted to buy one of his designs. He is classic yet exceptionally trendy in an acceptable Chicago way. He's doing interesting things with lace that might be just what you wanted if price is no object. Our model, however, will probably wait until someone like Ralph Lauren or Land's End has a sale, if he doesn't go back to Banana Republic with a gift card. So be ready to splurge again. The fall fashions have come to Chicago and are online.
