What responsibility do Pagans carry?

Claiming to be a witch, Pagan, Wiccan, Druid or any other term you can possibly think of is something that should never be taken lightly, especially now that we have been thrust into the limelight courtesy of our dear "friend" Fox News. I choose to use the word Pagan as that is what works for me. Being a Pagan brings with it an enormous amount responsibility as we always have to be on our best behavior due to the way we are perceived by those that don't know, or choose not to know, who and what we really are.

Pagans know that we have a huge responsibility to the environment, as that is Mother Earth whom we love and worship. In order to harmonize with Nature we must always seek to protect it and keep it in balance. With that respect also comes power that the ordinary person does not "see" even though, if they chose to, they would see that they have the same abilities as you or I. The acknowledgement of the spiritual or supernatural, the knowing that there is a masculine to the feminine, dark to the light, the yin to the yang so to speak. Pagans understand that by utilizing the forces of nature we must also replenish and respect them.

Pagans bear the responsibility to respect other religions whether they respect our beliefs, or when they unfortunately do not. We as Pagans have the responsibility to educate and enlighten those that wish to hear it and passively respect those that don't. I personally have a lot of animosity towards Christians due to personal reasons, but manage to keep those feelings to myself most of the time. We are only human after all. Above all else,we have the responsibility to follow the Wiccan Rede "Do as thou will, an harm none".

Brightest Blessings,

Lady Bastet
