Chances are, if you’re reading this, you watch online video. And you aren’t alone. In fact, the number of people watching online video is growing quickly and audiences are getting much more used to watching video via their computer. Media has not only become easier to access, but easier to produce and distribute, and those factors have lead to a plethora of new and original content for audiences across the world. Content which runs the gamut of both niche and mainstream, short form and long form, professional, prosumer, and amateur.

Statistics from eMarketer say that online video viewers will make up 85% of all web users by 2013. 188 million people watching internet videos, up from 144 million viewers this year. This presents a significant opportunity for both viewers and advertisers. For advertisers, there are both traditional and new ways to broadcast their message and branding to very focused groups of audiences. For viewers, with so much more original online content to choose from, it is now possible for audiences to find entertainment that is specifically geared towards their tastes - available anytime.

As bandwidth increases it’s only going to become easier for creators to produce and distribute content independently, for advertisers to re-shape how brands communicate with their audiences, and for those audiences to find on demand entertainment that caters specifically to them. No matter how you watch online video, or what your relationship is to the content that exists online, as it continues to grow, you can be assured that your needs will be catered to.
