Yesterday afternoon, on ABC’s “The Chew” Stacy London appeared as a guest with her “What Not to Wear” co-host Clinton Kelly. On the show, Stacy made a delicious broccoli and kale soup with white beans and chicken sausage. One of the panelists who sits behind the five hosts was introduced to the audience. Her name was Tania from the Bronx, N.Y. She tasted Stacy’s soup and loved it. There was another reason why she was there on that day; she was the subject of last night’s episode of “What Not to Wear.”
She agreed to bring her wardrobe to the show and accepted the $5,000 card to purchase a new wardrobe and with tears in her eyes, will be there. She is a single mother, a 44-year-old CEO of a nutrition non-profit. She spends much of her workday dressed as a frog known as “Coqui the Chef.” Her two friends from work, Ilene and Noel were the catalyst behind Tania’s ambush on “The Chew.” They told Clinton and Stacy that Tania had a hot little body, but nobody knows that under the frog costume. Her cousin helped them film her for a week before appearing on the afternoon show.
She had mixed emotions about her appearance on the show, but when they showed the footage of her the week prior to her appearance, she was wearing clothes that lacked style. She also had two teenagers, whose clothes she and they wore and with the difficulty paying for clothes for the three of them, it was a major factor. Stacy and Clinton also brought to the forefront how she was hiding behind the frog costume, which became her comfort zone. However, as the head of a company, she needs to appear more professional to make people take her more seriously.
She brought all her clothing, including the frog suit. When they went through her clothes, she dressed in the suit, and admitted she was hiding behind the frog. They showed her a classic grey suit with neon elements on the pockets. She looked like a teenager in a denim romper and pink hoodie, but they told her it was outrageous for her to dress like this. She admitted that she hid behind her clothes, rather than wore them like a woman. She felt intimidated about shopping for a new wardrobe. She knows that she must dress better to gain respect, but Stacy and Clinton know that she does not have a style to call her own.
As they assisted her in trying to bring out her inner and outer beauty, she started to understand what they meant. She was truly hiding within herself and had to spread her wings and own her new look. Then she got to meet with Ted, who was going to give her hair a new look. Next, Carmindy came in to do her makeup and give her a sophisticated look that would surely turn heads. Her grand entrance was completed on “The Chew.” The cast agreed, that she was adorable, she wore three different outfits, two for business and one casual, that she could wear for both work and play. Now she looks like a woman, not a teenager. For the $5,000, she got thirty outfits for work and casual time. Now that she has more confidence in herself, maybe her new love will be right around the corner. Good luck, beautiful Tania!
