What? It's October Already.
The month of October is upon us and that means that its Jazz under the lights and the stars will come out for some real dynamic and intimate performances. Jazz Alley case in point with Karrin Allyson through the weekend. Former tonight show band leader Kevin Eubanks comes to town for one night on Tuesday October 8th at the Alley, Pat Martino with James Carter the 10th-13 and Fourplay the 17th - 20th. Stars Indeed.
Get a taste of the Earshot Jazz Festival Friday night with Trumpet Madness featuring Will Thomas and Jay Thomas. It's the 2nd night of 60 events running through November 17th. Greta Matassa performs Saturday night at Tula's on the night after the opening of Earshot. Sunday Reggie Going's and the "Sunday Offering" from 3-7p with $10 cover and Sunday evening the Jim Cutler Jazz Orchestra warms up the night. The big production thing continues with Big Bands on Monday and Tuesday night. Wednesday, Greta Metassa's student have a recital.
The next installment at Tula's for the Earshot Jazz Festival is the weekend of the 18th & 19th with George Colligan Trio on Friday and Saturday night, followed by the Jazz Police Big Band on the 20th.
A little more on the Earshot Jazz Festival. This is the 25th annual festival and this years festival features a line up of up and comers as well as some well established artists. Like the Dayna Stephens Trio on October 4th at Town Hall, or Bad Plus on Sunday October 20th. Not familiar with either of these?
