Bizarre Food Stories by Dara Bunjon
Detectives found chef Jean-Francois Poinard of Lyon, France frozen solid, in the fetal position in a chest freezer. The renowned French chef went missing approximately two years ago.
The break in the case came when his girlfriend Guylene Collober, inebriated, revealed to her daughter that ‘something unfortunate’ had happened to him. The daughter in turn informed the police. Reports say that the Poinard and Collober had been a tumultuous relationship with numerous fights.
Cause of death will be determined when the body thaws which can take up to 48 hours.
This story sounds like one of the movies about deaths of chefs and doing to them what they do to food.
For some reason an old Alfred Hitchock television episode, Lamb to the Slaughter episode comes to mind. It is about the murder of a philandering police detective with a heavy instrument which couldn’t be found. The wife of the victim talks to the investigating detectives and feeds them dinner, leg of lamb – you guessed it, the murder weapon. Yes, the story line is different but the irony is there and proves you can easily loose track of items stored in a spare freezer.
