What is Your Country Music?

Times are changing and bringing country music along with them. What our grandparents once called country music has transformed more into an eclectic group of singers and songwriters that have added their own twist here and downbeat there to generate some romping, stomping, heart breaking tunes. From the ‘Singing Cowboy’ Gene Autry to David Allan Coe’s ‘the perfect country and western song’ to today’s young sensation Taylor Swift, there is something to be found for everyone.

Maybe country music could be considered the great equalizer? It seems that if you enjoy steel guitars and a slow twang in the lyrics you are in luck. On the other hand if a banjo playing makes you kick up your heels then jump right on in! Like a little ‘pop’ with your country? You can find that on almost any radio station across the country. The ability of current artists to break through to the pop charts these days has shown just how far country music has grown in the last few decades.

On the other hand there are a few ‘Rock’ artists like Kid Rock who managed to not only make a number one hit with ‘All Summer Long’ on the rock charts, but the song also made it to the top ten in the country charts as well! Maybe country music fans are just fickle and will change their minds from song to song. But one thing is for sure, country music is booming! Sellout crowds for concerts featuring some of today’s hottest acts such as Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean, prove that country music in its story telling, beer drinking and tailgate dancing way is here to stay!
